Each day their lives are placed in jeopardy just so that a student like me can be safe in school and in the streets. Yet for some inexplicable reason, their efforts are not heralded by most citizens or the media. But I expect that the reason why citizens become police officers is to help people, and set an example for their community. I do not consider becoming a police officer to be a right, it is an honor. I want to be an officer because my desire is to protect and serve. I want to stop harm from visiting innocent people and I want to serve my community in a way that benefits its' citizens.
